From Bay Ridge to Williamsburg

Before I left home my friend Annie showed me a clip of Jamie Oliver heading out to Flushing in Queens to try freshly made noodles I was telling my friends in laws about this and Jose recommended this place its in Brooklyn, which much closer for me! So today I ventured to the neighbourhood in Brooklyn called Bay Ridge upon recommendation from Jose.

Yes this sign reads Wong Good Hand Pull Noodle Restaurant..

Located at 60th Street & 8 Ave Bay Ridge

They let me film the magic

Soya Chicken and vegetables

I had to get dumplings I'm secretly always on the hunt for the best dumpling

Needless to say I was full! This whole meal was $9

Then I ventured up to Williamsburg on the hunt for some vintage old pieces for my looming golden bday (stay tuned)

So I stumbled upon this lovely coffee shop Toby's Estate Coffee coincidentally my sister has recommended them as they supply the bean's to her cafe in Perth! they are an Aussie bean supplier started in Sydney and now making it big in NYC.

"Toby is a roaster, barista, and coffee artisan intent on sharing his passion and knowledge with coffee lovers through his roasteries and cafes in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Singapore, and now in Brooklyn." -  Toby's Estate Coffee

It's a beautiful space with a high ceiling loft-esque feel and giant windows to let in all the sunshine. I had a delicious iced coffee definitely one of my best ones since coming to the US.

I love this shelving

I purchased this book/bible for my sisters birthday!

Then I ran into my cousin, to celebrate we indulged in happy hour at this beautiful asian garden!

Stormy Saturday

Gotta start the day right! Raisin bread french toast a la Zoe with sauteed apples and pears in simple caramel sauce. Divine! Given that plain french toast is a combination of savoury items (bread and eggs) with sweet maple syrup the raising bread

Then cousin Robin and I headed to Queens on the 7 train the only subway line I had yet to venture on now I've done them all. The great thing about escaping to Queens and Brooklyn is capturing the view of the entire city!

Leah and I catching the crazy hurricane style wind

Dragonball Z!

Back in Manhattan we stopped at this little wine bar near St Mark's place to celebrate surviving the mini hurricane. NZ Sauvignon Blanc you do things to me!

I left Robin to meet my other cousin Zoe in her performance, Cloud 8 at Theatre 80. The play is based on a cult leader giving a speech with his sidekicks to new followers (the audience) and pointing out how easily we will believe what we're told without question...very real, I thoroughly enjoyed it and it is so awesome to see your cousin in an off Broadway show in NYC! Also Theatre 80 has an amazing long history such as Mr Frank Sinatra has belted a tune's there and Billy Crystal started his usher career there, fantastic space with an awesome Absinth bar attached..Absinth sours are a new fave just don't have too many!

Then it was off to Kate's Curry Birthday!

Insane fairy lights as far as the eye can see, so close you hit your head on them

Happy Birthday Kate!

That is 4 separate Indian restaurants with insane fairy lights aka seizure time!

and then there were three..Josh, Robin and I headed to Ella for a sneaky boogie and these amazing watermelon cocktails!

OMG she's fashion road kill

I had a choice I could slink off the runway and let my inner model die of shame, or I could pick myself up flaws and all and finish..

and that's just what I did because when real people fall down in life they get right back up and keep on walking

Happy New York Fashion week!

Day 2 Rain, Hail or Shine

So it started off grey but it was still nice and hot

One of my favourite sayings, ask most

Santigold!
I want this dress!!!

Then I watched the Hives a brilliant swedish band, at one point the lead singer made the entire crowd part down the middle and sit down whilst he ran through us, I have always wondered if they could make everyone do that in a festival environment and now I know.

RUN DMC reunited after 13 years since the death of their 3rd member Jam Master Jay
 BRILLIANT AS EVER!

Jam Master Jay's Sons performing on the decks

New day, same concept of tattoo

Drake! also had surprise guests such as Tyga!

Bloody beautiful specimen Eddie Vedder! Pearl Jam rocked hard for 2 solid hours closing the festival couldn't get any better than that

oh wait then it did
Yeah that happened! Pearl Jam and Jay-Z doing 99 problems...words cannot describe

and so ends the epic festival!

To recuperate Aunty M and Unci Herb put on this spread, courtesy of Zabars, extremely famous store in NYC on West 80th and Broadway, consisting of gourmet and Kosher delights!

Jealous?!

Oh and I registered to vote at the festival! to celebrate I indulged in my Obama cookie purchased at the Night Kitchen Bakery, iced coffee made by moi
