Annie the girl from life

To my delicious Annabel

Happy 21st Birthday!!

I've known you since you were a teen
Yet around my life you've always been seen
I guess that's what happens when it's meant to be

Brighton Road Food Market was our first introduction
Brittany's nachos was our first concoction
Birthday breakfasts at the local Dome
Trying to learn all the lyrics to Kings of Leon

Learning how to spell your surname
Learning my legitimate first name
For the love of curry and laughter
Sex and the city and happy ever afters

Eighteen with a vision to Paris
But first we had to try long distance
Magazines and grapes on your bed
Only with the greatest friend

As it turns out you saw me too
Leaning on a post box everyday before school
I guess that's what happens when it's meant to be

Think of the things you'll see

This is my friend Stacey Coppack nee Palin also known as Scoppack, Scoop dawg sometimes Wendy and previously known as Spalin. She will be my travel buddy for 7 weeks! We thought it was about time to test our friendship just to make sure it's legit.

We are meeting in the good old NYC, then we're off to San Fran, San Diego and LA (photos to follow later) Then we're gonna do this sucker (see map below) It's called the Contiki Grand Southern* a coordinated bus ride across the US with hotels a couple of cabins and some breakfasts and dinners and activities so many activities!

So 26 days, about 50 people, 21 states, and I don't even know how much food and alcohol haha it should be epic!

Thank god we know how to have fun otherwise it could be a very long 7 weeks!

8 days!!!!!! hurry up Scoppack!

First we ate at a lovely Irish pub

Steak & Guinness pie with Irish potatoes this was sooo friggin delicious! I was not expecting it at a little Irish pub in the middle of Times Square

Chicken strips, inhaled!

and my favourite, cider!!!! Also our lovely bar tender gave us a free mystery shot to celebrate

Radio City!

SOLD OUT! BOOM CITY!

The inside of the building is absolutely amazing as Kate put it - "If these walls could talk"

The beautiful stage

Hot Tip: Focus on the music not the footage

Later we headed to Hells Kitchen to boogie woogie at a wicked gay club, because lets face it they always have the best tunes!

Got compliments on these bad boys all night, pain is beauty my friends!

This is how happy I was to hear Donna Summer - Bad Girl

Great night!

Mexicana Brunch

Unci Herb was in town and wanted to take the kiddies to brunch as if we were gonna say no!

Best chalkboard drawing I have seen yet

Mcshwing!

We picked a delightful mexican restaurant Fonda located on 7th ave between 14th & 15th St Park Slope

Delicious outdoor space

Unci Herb & Cousin Zoe

Guacomole and hand pressed tortillas!

Whats brunch without a mimosa! its just breakfast at lunch time
Hibiscus mimosa

Wildly hot salsa but I still loved it

I was skyping with the lovely Antoinne prior to brunch and obviously the topic of what I was going to eat came up and she said "I would have eggs with salsa and some kind of chorizo" so I scoured the menu and found the classic Huevos Rancheros (hu-way-vose runch-air-os) I will give you that pronunciation lesson for free, you are welcome.

Two sunny side up eggs over a crispy corn tortilla and refried black beans covered with salsa ranchera, topped with crumbled chorizo, queso fresco and crema.

It was delicious, Antoinne you of course would have loooooved it!

Thanks again Unci Herb x

Avenue Q

Kate and I met up again later in the week to see a Broadway musical! She managed to get some half price tickets to this little ditty called Avenue Q.

"Winner of the TONY® “TRIPLE CROWN” for BEST MUSICAL, BEST SCORE and BEST BOOK, AVENUE Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. Don't miss out on this chance to save big on this long-running Broadway hit!
AVENUE Q is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named PRINCETON who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. There, he meets KATE (the girl next door), ROD (the Republican), TREKKIE (the internet sexpert), LUCY THE SLUT (need we say more?), and other colorful types who help PRINCETON finally discover his purpose in life!" - http://www.avenueq.com/about.html

It was so hilarious definitely worth checking out if your humour is similar to mine! haha Here's a video to give you a taste!

Katie m'lady

Today I got to reunite with an old pal of mine Kate! we used to work together at Dome oh so many moons ago. We were delighted in the fact that after 2 years of missing eachother due to that thing called life we got to casually reunite in Central Park no biggie. We chilled for a bit swapping war stories as you do and then we headed back to my hood for the month Park Slope, Brooklyn.

That's just good marketing right there

We headed to Bar Toto for some Italian located on the corner of 11th street and 6th Ave Park Slope.

Katie! and some delicious red which they charged us for a glass instead of the bottle WINNING!

Spaghetti and meatballs & pepperoni caramelised onion and parmesan pizza yummy!

Then we headed up the street to Barbes a funky bar on 9th St and 6th Ave playing some wicked live Cuban music

Kate's first Dark & Stormy ( Spiced Rum & ginger beer with a lime wedge) my favourite drink!

No real time passes between real friends.

Sloppy Jalopy

After babysitting I headed out with my cousin Zoe and her friend Meryl to Jalopy Tavern in Red Hook, Brooklyn. This place has some amazing food! the kitchen is open from 4pm-10pm so you gotta get in quick! the chef Becca looked after us all night.

That right there is a delightful chickpea slider it was like a fresh chickpea mash with herbs and spices and radish tzatziki served with cold grapes and herbs on the side. So pucking good this would turn me vego!

We also enjoyed brie baked in phyllo dough and drizzled in honey unfortunately there is no photo because we literally inhaled them! soooo gooood!

I tried to take more photos, the outside was lit with red fairy lights but I didn't want to disturb the hipster vibe with my super bright flash so this is what I got. Hot Tip: When you lose a shoe why not use the other as a pot plant.

Saturday and its time for Brunch with Bekah! mmm Mimosas

Zoe felt inspired to recreate the phyllo treats we had the night before with different ingredients.
Strawberry & Brie
Brie & Basil
Basil & Tomato
and my personal suggestion Brie, Basil & Chocolate (do not knock it until you've tried it!)

they were delicious especially the chocolate one!

Zoe and I wanted to hit up a yoga class at Laughing Lotus so the 3 of us decided to walk to the Brooklyn bridge as the sun was shining before getting on the subway. We stopped at the waters edge and caught a glimpse of this
