We checked into our hostel and got a complete shock seeing the stairs we had to climb seeing as the san fran hostel had an elevator! So once we burned some calories taking our luggage up four flights of stairs we were ravenous! Luckily our hostel was perfectly situated on a busy restaurant street in the Gaslamp quarter so we got us some raspberry martinis and I had veal wrapped in prosciutto with a sage lemon oil sauce and the most delicious mash potato served in the potato skin with green beans, salivating yet? It was delicious!
Our first day we spent at the famous San Diego zoo! My favourite animals were the gorillas, flamencos, snakes and tigers! I have to say the biz-arrest thing we saw was people on a bus to get around the zoo?? Seriously...
So once we made our way through the 5 different areas we headed out for what has been dubbed as the worst pub crawl ever firstly it wasn't a crawl because we went to one place playing disgusting techno #hottip do not take people to a raging drum and bass club as the first stop on a pub crawl you need to build to that and also people staying at hostel aren't exactly ballers (even though I like to think I am) therefore saving me $20 cover charge doesn't make the drinks cheaper, $12 for a vodka cranberry umm our bottle of vodka for pre drinks was cheaper....awkward. So we bailed that place quick smart trying to salvage the night and turns out the place next door to the hostel was a fun bar with a wicked DJ and the night was salvaged! Just.
To recover from our evening we headed to the infamous IHOP previously standing for the international house of pancake! This place was amazing and so cheap! For $10 we got bacon, eggs, homemade hash brown (my favourite) strawberry crepes and an OJ, yep this is my new favourite place!
We spent this grey day shopping and maybe I found some delicious summer dresses for el cheapo at urban outfitters! And a killer handbag =) after our day of shopping we enjoyed fish tacos by the water.
For our last day in San Diego we headed to Balboa Park as it is one of their most renowned parks, honestly after living a stones throw from Central Park nothing can compare however I did love the cactus garden and the Indian festival where we got to have a sneaky curry!
For our final meal we enjoyed some hearty italian. I had the classic spaghetti and meatballs! We also enjoyed a risotto breaded almost giant arancini log with fresh mozzarella and mince meat in a capsicum cheese sauce aka amazing!
So after unsuccessfully finding Carmen San Diego we boarded the train to LA!
