Today I finally got to see one of my uncles most prized masterpieces! The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania - Out on a Limb

He has one countless awards for this creation

~2010 AIA Philadelphia Design Excellence Gold Medal
~2010 AIA Pennsylvania Architectural Excellence Award

~2010 "Best of Philly" Award

~2010 American Association of Museums Excellence in Exhibition Design Award

and now I finally get to play on it! hahaha

The idea behind the design -

From an architectural standpoint, Alan Metcalfe, AIA, LEED AP, Principal of MA&D, created places that encourage people to stop, look, turn, move and linger – offering them a chance to “play” with something so familiar, yet see it in a new way.

After our tree walk we headed to Laurie Beck Peterson's photography exhibit at the High Point Cafe.

The show was comprised of small shots taken with her iphone and printed on vellum in platinum and gold leafed. There were also larger shots taken with a Holga printed in palladium and cyanotyope. I was blown away by the shots taken by the iphone reading the description Laurie was frustrated when printing the shots because they would come out blurry and then the photo lost its essence so she found that the gold backing combined with the vellum print helped to keep the essence of the photo. I love it.

After the show we held a celebratory dinner at our pad. Chili con carne & Corn bread and I finally remembered to take a photo!

DELICIOUS!
